Honoring
the men and women of America?s military and law
enforcement agencies for their efforts in support of Operation
Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Whereas, Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the
men and women of America?s armed forces and State and local law
enforcement agencies have shown great courage in protecting the
American people from the threat of international and domestic
terrorism; and

Whereas, The sacrifices that the
men and women of America?s
military and State and local law enforcement agencies
make on
behalf of, not only the security of America, but also the entire
free world, are greatly appreciated and deserving of recognition;
and

Whereas, The state motto, "Mountaineers are always free",
epitomizes the patriotic commitment made by more than one thousand
West Virginia citizens and their families to preserving the liberties of the West Virginia citizenry; and

Whereas, Due to the diligence and alertness of our Secretary of
Military Affairs and Public Safety and other State and local law
enforcement officials, our beloved state of West Virginia has
remained free from terrorist attack, although the threat of
terrorism is ever present; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Legislature hereby expresses sincere gratitude to
the
men and women of America?s military and State and local law
enforcement agencies for their courage and sacrifices
, and to the
President Bush, as commander-in-chief and his Cabinet for their
actions, and hereby declares its support for this long and
difficult war on terrorism; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to President George W. Bush and
the West Virginia Congressional Delegation.
